Product Description
Synopsis
CD-ROM and Book. Since the historic flight of Apollo 11, space historians and enthusiasts around the world have wondered what it was like to be aboard Eagle and Columbia. This volume features recently declassified reports which have finally been released to the public. After the initial flurry of press activity in 1969, the crew of Apollo 11 returned to their lives and interviews became less and less frequent. Journalists the world over followed Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins and tried to squeeze every last piece of information from them about their adventure but, as is often the case, some stories had to be withheld. This is the first ever publication which will take you inside Apollo 11 as it journeyed to the moon, as told by the men who made the trip. This is the real story, nothing held back, taken from transcripts on 31 July 1969. It is often technical, sometimes surprising and amusing -always educational and inspiring. This is the story of three men who travelled into the unknown, relying on each other and the hard work of the people back on earth. Three men who pushed space travel to a new limit.

Taken from the crew's own words, Apollo 11, Volume 2 will be informing people for generations.

From the Author
We needed a second volume.
I am particularly proud of our accomplishments with Volume 2 of Apollo 11. Not only is it the first time that the post-flight debriefing has been published to the public but we also have pushed the CDROM to capacity. We have included, nearly 3½ hours of video. The entire uncut television broadcast of the moonwalk, but also an exclusive interview with Buzz Aldrin conducted in June 99. We also managed to cram on one more Quicktime VR panorama of Tranquillity Base, this one includes the only good photograph of Neil Armstrong on the surface while processing the bulk sample. Make sure you view the VR using the QT player to get the full effect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Addictive reading, 1 Jan 2000
By A Customer
I was a bit reluctant to buy this book, but now I'm glad I did. Being only eight when the first moon landing took place, my memories are somewhat jaded, but this book puts everything into place. It also very interesting to read Neil Armstrongs comments about the mission, especially in view of his 'reluctance' to talk about it now. Well done Robert Godwin, I am now about to order the Apollo 12 mission reports.

4.0 out of 5 stars The REAL story of Apollo 11., 23 Sep 1999
By A Customer
This book is concise, clearly presented and sticks to the facts. It is refreshingly free of idle speculation and inaccuracies. If you want to know what it was like to fly the Apollo 11 mission, read this book (together with M. Collin's over twenty year old "Carrying The Fire"). If you are only interested in the machinations behind the program or its historical and sociological implications, then this is not the book for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Apollo 11 Mission Reports VOL2, 17 Sep 2002
By A Customer
I found this book very interesting but also very technical. Its a book aimed at the enthusiast rather than the recreational reader. Thats not to say its a bad book, its a great read, just take a few minutes to take a look at the abbreviaions at the back of the book. Its not a story book, rather a de-breifing of key points during the flight.
The CD-ROM included is a brilliant accompiment to the book and contains some great footage of moon walks and experiments done on the surface. It also includes an interview with Buzz Aldrin which is also good.
Overall I found this book good but technical (but im stupid!) If you want a technical insight into the flight of Apollo 11 then youll love it. If you want a story about the flight and landing youll probably hate it!
