In the Second Edition of "The Complete RF Technician's Handbook" all chapters have been expanded, enhanced, and/or updated, including the addition of forty-five new explanatory drawings, along with an enlarged and comprehensive glossary with every need-to-know radio communication's term clearly defined.
All to often electronic books are loaded with theory, but contain precious little practical knowledge. As well, many of these books refer to test equipment and circuits that have not been used by industry in over twenty years. "The Complete RF Technician's Handbook", however, includes only those circuits that you will find in the majority of modern RF devices. Additionally, current test equipment and their applications are covered in order to help the technician become familiar with their basic functions.
Troubleshooting of RF, digital, and audio circuits down to the component level is heavily stressed, as this is what most competent technicians will be required to do.
Since digital circuits and modulation techniques have become such an important part of many electronic devices, digital methods and their real world circuits are discussed as they apply to wireless communications. RF voltage and power amplifiers, in addition to their classes of operation, configurations, biasing, coupling techniques, frequency limitations, noise and distortion are all included, as are the major types of LC, crystal and RC oscillators. Up-to-date frequency synthesis procedures are included as well.
Of course, all of the RF modulation and detection methods are explained in detail -- AM, FM, PM, and SSB -- as are their associated circuits; such as automatic gain control, squelch, selective calling, frequency multipliers, speech processing, mixers, power supplies, digital signal processing, and automatic frequency control circuits. Various multiplexing methods and data, satellite, spread spectrum, cellular, and microwave communication technologies are discussed.
"The Complete RF Technician's Handbook" will supply the working technician or student with a solid grounding in the latest methods and circuits employed in today's RF communication's gear, as well as the ability to test and troubleshoot transmitters, transceivers, and receivers with absolute confidence.
